What is Drug Action Week?
Drug Action Week (DAW) 2010 is a week of activities held nationally to raise awareness about alcohol and other drugs (AOD) issues in Australia. The week also highlights the achievements of the dedicated individuals who work within the AOD sector to reduce alcohol and drug-related harm.
DAW 2010 is an initiative of the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA), providing individuals, organisations, and communities with the opportunity to promote awareness of alcohol and other drugs.
Each year, a diverse range of voices including State/ Territory AOD organisations, non-government organisations, community groups, the education sector, and the media join ADCA to speak out about alcohol and other drug-related issues.
Anyone can get involved in DAW and the sky is the limit when it comes to organising your own DAW activity. Why not run an art competition, hold a seminar, arrange a picnic, or organise an information booth in a shopping centre?
ADCA encourages everyone to get involved - together we can make a difference and help to reduce the damaging effects of alcohol and drug use in our communities.
ADCA is working hard to build on past successes to ensure that DAW 2010 is the best ever! |
